The fashion crowd headed to The ShOws T.O. for one last night of a glimpse into fall 2012 fashion. Canadian natives Jean-Pierre Braganza and Jeremy Laing showed us their innovative collections, which have already appeared on the runways of New York and London. It’s such a treat to see our own international designers showing in such an intimate setting. Jeremy Laing appropriately closed the show, and as the models gave us their final walks it was officially a wrap on Toronto’s fashion festivities, until next season of course!
Jean-Pierre Braganza
UK based designer and former Ryerson University student, Jean-Pierre Braganza, brought his Fall 2012 collection home to Toronto for editors, bloggers and fashion photographers to get a peek of his signature avant-garde style. The collection of embellished skirts with zipper detailing in the back, jersey and knit dresses in fiery reds, oranges and pinks, and extremely cropped knits paired with high waisted pencil skirts and loose fitting trousers all combined for a weekend casual vibe. The cropped chunky knits are a fresh new take on the trend that is always a fall staple. We love it paired with the higher cut skirt, showing just a hint of skin to keep the look sexy, but still practical for those chilly temperatures. Jeremy Laing
There was much anticipation leading up to Jeremy Laing’s fall fashion show on Canadian soil. The Canadian favourite among many fashion fans, did not disappoint. We got a sneak peek of his Fall 2012 collection at World MasterCard Fashion Week where he showcased a couple of the looks in the Holt Renfrew Presents show, but here the designer gave us even more of the gorgeous burn out and bleached prints. Supermodel and host of the event Liisa Winkler opened the show, it’s hard to believe that she’s had two kids! The show focused on layered and tailored separates that had a strong minimalist vibe. The shapes and placement of zippers on the garments also had editors talking. Long zippers transformed simple capes into tunics, which makes dressing in a hurry a cinch. The bleached out black lily patterns kept the collection fresh and young but the minimalistic approach definitely made the line appropriate for a wide age range of women.
