The runways of Paris are being rolled up today as Haute Couture Fashion Week comes to an end. Major designers including Chanel, Dior and more have showcased their most elaborate designs on the catwalk all week. We wanted to give you a look at more of the hottest fashion shows that you may have missed.
Gaultier paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse in this collection, by bringing her trademark 50’s flair to the catwalk. It was all there from her beehive hairstyle to her always dramatic eye to her va-va-voom style. The show began a trademark Winehouse outfit of a pencil skirt and polo tee. The designer gave it a couture twist with sequins and a plunging neckline. The collection mixed uber-feminine looks of retro day suits and waist emphasizing dresses with menswear inspired outfits including pant suits and varsity jackets. There was a dishevelled look about the collection with coats draping off of the models and some pieces looking unfinished. This only added to the Winehouse feel. Amy’s bold personality came through in Gaultier’s choice of bright colours and daring pieces that were sometimes revealing, but always feminine. The show ended with a set of model wearing veils with lingerie inspired outfits, possibly one last goodbye to the starlet. See the Jean Paul Gaultier fashion show here:
Giorgio Armani was inspired by reptiles for this Spring collection using their texture and colours to bring the line to life. Models slinked down the runway wearing sexy python prints in rich green hues. Fabrics shimmered under the lights as though they were wet. Scales and watercolour prints with a reptilian feel made an appearance in a variety of hues. Everything from sharp blazers to ladylike full skirts were given the snake treatment. Stunning eveningwear allowed these prints to be bigger and bolder on the full ball gowns and sexy body hugging dresses. A set of dresses at the end were beautifully tiered to look like true scales down the dress. See highlights from Armani’s fashion show here:
For Spring, Valentino’s designers were inspired by the image of Marie Antoinette at a farm in Versailles. Think of the country air and classic styles to get the ambiance of the collection. Delicate flower prints covered almost all of the looks. White lace and pale airy fabrics allowed for the old world feel. The collection had a very feminine appeal to it with long flowing skirts and billowing sleeves on dresses. It all had a very delicate look for the true lady. Watch their fashion show here:
