Affordably fresh, or refreshingly affordable-either way, the Joe Fresh Spring/Summer 2012 Collection shown Wednesday night at LG Fashion Week was a pure breeze of clean air. Even- if possible- more minimalistic and clean than any of Joe Mimram’s previous collections for the wallet-friendly line.
Lemonade-stand brights in orange, neon yellow and Kelly green with cloud-like whites popped on gauzy skirts and glossy neoprene jackets, coming together to produce an all-at-once nostalgic and futuristic runway show. Little House on The Prairie in the year 3000 came to mind, with sporty, tennis-team like hair in low ponytails and youthful, preppy styling.
The equally squeaky-clean (but maybe a bit less minimalist) men’s collection really surprised, though, where Joe brought his fresh-squeezed tangerine orange and white to two-tone collared shirts, tailored printed blazers, and orange-soled shoes.
Leather, neoprene or crochet, the papery white and citrusy pops of colour made this collection cohesive and satisfying for lovers of the grocery-store staple brand. See more from Toronto Fashion Week.
