Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson & Mulberry Show At London Fashion Week

The fashion elite have crossed the pond for London Fashion Week now. The best of British fashion showed their Spring/Summer 2012 lines this weekend for all to see. Here is a look at some of the shows:

Vivienne Westwood Red Label
Westwood reeled in her sometimes wild fashion show this season while still keeping things light. Models with towering hair and bold makeup strutted the runway for her red label show in many separates. There was a play on menswear with suits in varying style and colours. Blazers had different cuts and styles. Pants often came draped and loose. Of course Westwood’s draped dresses also made an appearance in prints, plaids and belted styles. Blouse and skirt outfits had her draped look as well. Evening wear pieces all made a statement in shocking shades of red and edgy metallics. Mulberry
The British design house made a play on the wet UK weather for Spring opening with a little yellow raincoat and matching satchel. The show continued in that sense with looks made for a day at the seaside. Maxi dresses and skirts, layered looks with long coats, and ribbed leggings. As it is Mulberry, you need to know that the handbags can in satchel form, smaller leather bags with chain handles and large hobos. Handbag shades were mostly neutrals, but there were some pops of colour like a bright yellow for fun. Watch the Mulberry show here:

Matthew Williamson
Williamson tried to combine his boho beach style with something more polished and suited to the city this season. He kept his colours bright with many varying shades and prints for the summer months. There were less long maxi dresses and more blazers, trousers and printed cocktail dresses. The prints, and feather and jewel adorned dresses were the standout pieces that would make a statement on the red carpet. See photos of Matthew Williamson’s show.
