Dolce & Gabbana designers announced today that they will be closing down the D&G line for good. The D&G fashion show scheduled for today in Milan will be the last for the line.
Dolce & Gabbana began the D&G collection nearly 20 years ago as a youthful, urban and more casual take on their fashion. Reports say they felt the lines were too similar in price point, so they were competing against each other. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana announced in a statement that the Spring 2012 collection will be the end of the line and the styles and vision of D&G will be incorporated in the main Dolce & Gabbana collection. This means you may see more from Dolce & Gabbana in the coming seasons including more affordable options and accessories.
The line has been a huge success for the design duo since it launched. It has been a major source of growth for the brand as a whole.
