DESIGNER PICKS: Pink Tartan’s Kimberly Newport-Mimran Gives Her 2011 Spring Fashion Advice

Our über popular Designer Picks series is back for spring. Kicking it off this time is the Queen of Canadian prepster style, Kimberly Newport-Mimran of Pink Tartan. Kimberly is weighing in with her trend picks and what she’s wearing this season. Here is her spring fashion advice:

 

Real Style Network: What are your must-haves for spring?
Kim Newport-Mimran: Leather skirts, the perfect houndstooth rain coat, military silk blouse, and anything with stripes.

Real Style Network: Do you have any style “don’ts”?
Kim Newport-Mimran: Don’t wear your clothes too tight.

Real Style Network: What are the hottest accessories for spring?
Kim Newport-Mimran: I love a tote, Celine zip is my fave. Also the kitten heel in straw or peau de soie.

Real Style Network: What is the hottest jewelry for spring?
Kim Newport-Mimran: A simple cuff or a doughnut from Elsa.

Real Style Network: What are some trends or pieces to buy that will last for a long time?
Kim Newport-Mimran: Lipstick in the right shade of pink.

Real Style Network: What will you be wearing this spring?
Kim Newport-Mimran: Stripes and wide leg trousers, white shirts and shirt dresses.

Real Style Network: What is your ultimate style tip?
Kim Newport-Mimran: I think the biggest fashion don’t is bad fit. Clothes that are made well and fit properly are so much chicer than trying to fit into something too small.
