FASHION SHOWS: Milan Fashion Week Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Dsquared2

Fashion shows around the world are running in high gear, as every day another batch of top designers debuts their Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Yesterday Milan Fashion Week wrapped up with hot shows from some of our favourite designers. Here is a look at the fashion shows of Milan Fashion Week:

For this spring collection Armani was inspired by the desert night sky. All of the looks ranged from black to indigo blue in colour. The evening wear had the sparkle of the night sky. The looks were quite tailored with fitted pant suits and jackets. Dresses and skirts were often layered over silk pants. Many of the looks were sheer adding sex appeal to this dark collection. Fashion critics said that the focus and idea put into this line and it’s cohesiveness is Armani’s greatest strength. See the Giorgio Armani fashion show here:

Italian designer Roberto Cavalli offered up a hippie, rocker chic line for spring 2011. Cavalli’s collection was filled with fringe, embellishments, and reptile prints on his skin baring garments. Flared pants laced up and dresses were embroidered and cutout to show more skin. It was an sexy, edgy line that you can picture in the hottest climates around the world. The pale neutral colour palette only emphasized all of the bare skin on the runway. See the Roberto Cavalli fashion show here:

For the spring Dsquared2 did something completely unexpected: created a tame collection. The usually outlandish designs of Dean and Dan Caten have been pulled back for spring, offering instead a sportswear line with a heavy menswear influence. Smoking jackets,  trousers and oxford shoes created a men’s inspired feel to the looks. Femininity was added in little touches of lace, sequins and bare skin. See the Dsquared2 fashion show here:

It is not what I expected from Dsquared but I like the new collection, very wearable with great “feminine” touches of lace and sequins.
