Smythe is one of our favourite Canadian fashion labels. Real Style Network is always delighted to have this design duo contribute to our Designer Picks series here and here. Known for their tailored outerwear, Christie Smythe and Andrea Lenczer provide excellent fashion tips!
Check out Smythe’s Top 5 Fall Fashion Must Haves: Camel, lace, long tube skirt, boots and fur!

1. Bring back Bessette-Kennedy camel!
This classic color is amazing for both blonds and brunettes and it’s been missing in the market for so long. Invest in a coat or Blazer with a modern shoulder detail (see photo attached).
2. Lace details.
Whether it’s a full lace piece or a subtle lace detail (we love Valentino’s oversized black wool sweater with nude lace detail), incorporate it!
3. Return of the long tube.
Maxi skirts and sweater dresses! We are beyond excited to wear full-length skirts and dresses casually with biker boots cardigans and scarves or the knit dickies we obsessed over last Fall. Haider Ackerman’s jersey wool skirt with slits up to there is insane and works with the lace Henley for a formal occasion.
4. Wicked biker/combat boot if you don’t own one already.
Demeulemeester is the brass ring in this department. (Shown above Alexander Wang Lamb Freja Laced Boot)
5. Fur – faux or real.
This is luxurious and textural in the cold weather. Christie is a faux girl so she will sport Smythe’s box jacket (see attached photo). Andrea will wear both her box and her new Izma grey raccoon pullover with hood that her husband bought her for her birthday but doesn’t know about yet.
Find Smythe at Bloomingdales and Saks and better quality boutiques. Make sure to visit their website for specific locations.

Great ideas! I love the Smythe fur coat it’s not too overwhelming like some fur coats are.
Smythe knows how to construct jackets – great tailoring and not boxy at all (sadly my size is always the first to go at Holts)
I think Smythe is great, they design clothes that any woman can wear. I have not bought into the whole lace thing yet but I am very into the long tube
Smythe have done very well for themselves, a small Canadian brand that received good exposure through celebrity endorsements of their clothing. Good answers also!
