making fashion news around the web right now about if Giles Deacon is the next designer for Ungaro. While many fashion blogs are confirming that Giles Deacon will take over the role of Creative Director at fashion house Ungaro, there has been no official word from Ungaro themselves.
This weekend JC Report tweeted “Exclusive: It’s official Giles Deacon is in at Ungaro.” The fashion news story grew like wildfire. While many people in the online fashion world are congratulating Giles Deacon on his new position, Vogue reports that nothing has been confirmed. In fact Vogue says the fashion designer claims there is no change in the talks between him and Ungaro. Ungaro has not released a statement yet either.
Fashion blogs have been speculating that Deacon would be taking over the role since he was seen having lunch with Ungaro’s owner. Rumours were even further amplified by the departure of former chief designer Estrella Archs.
Meanwhile if Giles Deacon does take over at Ungaro he may have an even bigger job than he expected. This morning Ungaro announced the departure of their men’s wear designer Franck Boclet. Boclet is leaving the fashion house on good terms to launch his own men’s wear collection.
Giles Deacon is the man for the high pressure position of rebuilding Ungaro after Lindsay Lohan. The designer graduated from school alongside designers like Alexander McQueen. He has worked at fashion houses Bottega Veneta, Mulberry, Daks and Gucci. He’s been named British Fashion Designer of the Year twice.
