DESIGNER PICKS : Holiday Season Fashion Designer Guide – Party Outfits

For the Holiday Season , Real Style has asked these top designers: Smythe, Jay Godfrey and Andy The-Anh for their expert opinion and fashion advice on the hottest outfits for the party season.

Here are the fashion designer recommendations for the holiday season’s must-have outfit:

Smythe: Something in your closet that you can alter to make it current. Buy some shoulder pads and put them under a dress and belt it. Take your old slouchy dress pants and crop them, taper at the shin and roll them to create a modern pant to be worn with a high-heeled moto boot. Cut the neck off a t-shirt so it falls off your shoulder and add a sequined scarf to dress it up. Make your own sequined or beaded scarf buy buying some beautiful fabric and cutting a long narrow strip for holiday. Shorts with patterned tights are also an amazing holiday outfit.

Jay Godfrey: My fuchsia PIXIE dress. With exaggerated shoulders and black waistband the dress is both chic yet sexy with the exposed back zipper.

Andy The-Anh: I recommend:  A Black Tuxedo

I chose the Andy The-Anh , white off the shoulder suit because of it’s versatility. This suit can be worn in the winter time ( winter white) with a pretty shawl or throw, as well as on a winter holiday and of course taken straight through to summer. The accessories will become brighter and more colorful towards spring and summer and stay in the gray/slate/brown shades for the winter. For a real “WOW” factor, wear with a chinchilla coloured faux fur wrap or go for real fur stole if that’s your preference.

The Greta Constantine, Greek goddess gown has long been my favorite type of gown, as it creates a wonderful shape with it’s soft draping. Again the dress is season-less and can be worn at any formal occasion. These outfits are considered investment pieces so the choice of versatility and usability becomes important.

One of my favorite looks from the fall and spring of Kim Newport-Mimran’s collections were her sequins for daytime tops and skirts. Such an item instantly updates your wardrobe and once again is season-less, versatile and portable . Easily dressed up or down depending on your other pieces ,sequins don’t wrinkle and give you the shine factor ( literally).
