FASHION NEWS: Men In Mini Skirts

As much as we would love to answer in the negative to the cries of  ”Please, Please say it ain’t so!” , it seems that men in mini skirts trend maybe picking up fashion speed.

According to Bbook, Miuccia Prada who has introduced mini-skirts for men said:

I’m working on [a men's collection] right now and someone at the office worriedly asked me, ‘You’re not going to make short skirts again, are you?’,” Prada recalls of a recent conversation with a collaborator. “So I’m now pushing it even further, just for revenge!”

Miuccia who are you trying to take revenge on? Us girls or the men?

All we can say is if the guys want to get in touch with their feminine side,( in more ways than one), then they better follow the ladies and shave their legs. And Yes Mr. Marc Jacobs that includes you as well!

Scotts surely had their reasons, which we are quite sure had very little to do with fashion for their kilts. ( And those “skirts” are NOT short). This is not quite the same thing as new fashion mini-skirts for men.

Take a look here at the hillarious spoof on men in skirts and vote for the one who has the best legs!

I agree! Men should shave their legs whenthey have dark hair. I looks better, and it feels better. It might be in fashion but socks with skirts…(could be okay with kilt styled skirts)… I don’t know but I don’t like it. It looks like somehow unfinished.

  2. martinus says:

What is “MINI” for men? I hope not the “belt-sized” skirts like for young women, or?
Maybe I am too conservative, but men’s skirts should have a minimum lentgh of 16 inches. I am not against skirts for men, no, absolutely not, but I promote skirts for men with style, and I believe that a lot of skirt style do not fit men. I agree with mara, men should wear pantyhose or shaving legs when they have dark. hair.

I don’t know how short are mini-skirts, but shorter than 14 inches are too short for men, definitely. Let girls have that short mini-skirts…… like to watch at them.

  4. Willie says:

Its about time that the designers are going to give men skirts of all lengths and I also think the short skirt should not be shorter than 14″. Just let me know where and when I can buy the skirts.

  5. breanne says:

For sure that men’s skirts never will become so short like women’s. The most short ladies skirt was approx. 8 inches —- a pretty big belt. Maybe there are some shorter around? Not everybody can wear skirt skirts, but some men I saw looked very good in it.
Yes, legs have to be shaved.

Come on folks… if you want to look like a woman wear pants!
Men have been stuck with boring boring fashion for decades . It’s time to return to skirts. Makes more sense for the make than a female to wear a skirt due to anatomy alone!

Men can easily rock mini skirts. A typical mini is 12 inches long which IS the same length as men’s Gym shorts! A micro mini at 10.5 inches long is the same length as many men’s running shorts! So “mini” doesn’t mean too short. Anything longer than 12 inches will interfere with leg movement. Guys can easily wear “Cargo Skirts” which tend to be plain, lots of pockets, belt loops. Check http://www.ebay.com. Also to get used to the idea men can wear skirts see more than a thousand guys that still look like guys in skirts (just as women still look look women when wearing pants):
http://picasaweb.google.com/Patagoniakid check the albums “Guys in Skirts”. Notice after awhile a guy in a skirt is no big thing. Come on women give the guys a break show a little encouragement to make the fashion vogue. Shorts just are not the same on a hot day!

  7. Mara says:

It is right, shorts are not the same as skirts or even mini-skirts. Shorts and pants are still ugly compare to flowering skirts.
I do n’t know why men hesitate to go on skirted. Skirts would fit them much better.

  8. Alby says:

It is not about fashion what I am writing about, it is a serious questing and a lot of answer why men should wear skirted garments, doesn’t matter what length as far skirts have an appropriate style and do not show manly genitals and underwear.
I just can’t understand that men always find excuses for that what they want to do.
In short: Thy don’t have to find any excuses except for the reason stayeing healthy. A skirt for every men is recommended because:
    1. decrease the risk of prostate cancer
    2. decrease the risk of testicle cancer
    3. more air is flowing through the lower part of the body which helps:
    a. keep legs airy and the reproduction organs in cooler temperature, therefor men do not need any additional supplements for sexual life, and in fall/winter/spring time legs absorbe more sunlight giving the body more Vitamin A
    4. Skirted garments provide much more comfort for the male body than any kind of pants.
Sorry, I couldn’t find any reason(s) against skirted garments in case of health for men except old thinking barriers. Do you can find any?
    Alby

  9. Thomas says:

I agree withe above. Men should be able to wear skirts but they also should shave their legs. I shave my legs and wear, when possible, a kilt. Next. When designer make skirted garment for men is should be in nutral colors not over bearing so the sting is removed for being labled as cross dresser. I enjoy my kilt out side very much and my neighbours have never said anything negative about me wearing a kilt or sarong which I have also.

  10. Breanna says:

Great, I liken to see men which have courage. I also agree that men looking very good in skirts, the length should be appropriate to his age and body. Some men can wear mini skirts and yes, it looks better with shaved legs because often men wearing pantyhose, too. About color…. Well it is not a requirement that men should wear neutral colors only but again, it’s a question about event and maybe his age.

  11. aron says:

i am a man yes men should be able to to wear what ever length min skirt they want and style they want . who ever dont like it dont have to look

  12. pitzicarto says:

I’m a man who wears skirts and kilts with ease. As I have very fair hair it isn’t in my opinion an issue when wearing a short skirt, but I do occasionally shave as it feels better, and the skirt slides on you when walking rather than scraping, which denim does in particular…a day of that can become irritating. You expect it with pants because pants are uncomfortable anyway…which is why I wear skirts lol.
But I think darker hair would look ugly with any skirt other than a kilt and aren’t we basically trying to present a pleasing image rather than a scary one?
Skirts are an overdue choice for men. I don’t object to women wearing designs based upon our trousers, and ties, as it’s merely thinking beyond the gendered product scenario which has to cater for the more likely sales potential. That’s why skirts don’t hang in the men’s department. But also I can not recall any signage saying ‘Women’s Skirts’.
The shortest I would consider, and use occassionally if the weather invites it, is 12″, but you have to expect gawps now and then. Kneelength are very easy to adopt and for most viewers no big deal at all. Some people even think a plain skirt on a man is a kilt, they are that dumb!
Finally, with minis, although there’s no ruling with any look adopted, I feel you should really have the legs for it. This is why women of a certain age sometimes only wear pants, or calf length skirts just showing a few inches of leg. Varicose veins aren’t pretty. It tends to keep things dignified.
