Cate Blanchett in Armani. Academy Awards.
At the Privé couture show in Paris today, Cate Blanchett sat front row. No stranger to high fashion, Blanchett sat with fellow beauties (but hardly acting competition for the untouchable Oscar-winner) Megan Fox and Adrien Brody’s ex, Elsa Pataky. While Fox gushed about a somewhat-secret fashion campaign in the works, Blanchett confirmed her greatness by discussing her role in Liv Ullman’s upcoming theatrical redo of “A Streetcar Named Desire.” What we wouldn’t give to see Cate as Blanche.
Not many women can pull of a bold floral print and strong shoulders. Cate is one of the fashionably gifted. And her long-standing friendship with Armani qualifies her to look amazing in everything.
And as for the show?
Armani’s winter 2010 display opened on familiar-but-strong territory with a series of pantsuits, his signature look, embellished with rhinestone-hemmed cuffs and buttons that looked like miniature crystal balls.
Then the Italian designer brought out the big guns, or rather the shiny guns, with bustier dresses covered in scintillating silver or champagne-coloured crystals, sequins and beaded fringe. Models wore beaded headpieces with dangling fringe that perched at a jaunty angle on their identical dark bobbed wigs.
The show – under Armani’s couture label Giorgio Armani Prive – had a vaguely flappery air about it. But mostly it just felt like classic Armani – all clean lines and to-die-for tailoring – with an extra shot of sparkle.

never been a fan of cate b. acting is too stoic and her face is very boxy. i didn’t like the above dress, but i did like the classic yellow valentino gown she wore to the oscars, i think the year was 2006.
Armani never disappoints. I like the rhinestone “bling”, it adds some glamour.
I wonder if Megan Fox and Cate Blanchett had anything to talk about. Other than their mutual love of Shia (Transformers and Indiana Jones).
Cate is a class act!
I think it was a good decision from Armani to work with Megan Fox instead of Victoria Beckham. Victoria was just way to skinny.
