DVD Releases May 3rd, 2011

Movies that were released this year have now started coming out on DVD. This week there is the first comic book based release of the year, and two comedies. Since it was a slow January at the box office, the movie studios are hoping these movies do better on DVD.

Like normal it has been a very weak January, and this Friday it doesn’t look to be much different with only two new releases. The first has been out for awhile doing the film festival circuit and stars Ben Affleck, and the second is the first of a series of friends with benefits movies being released this year.

The Green Hornet Movie Review

This week a new version of the Green Hornet opens at theatres. Seth Rogen steps into the shoes, and gives the character a more comedic edge. It is perhaps the first big movie of 2011, or it could flop and be the first disaster of the year and a candidate for next year’s Golden Raspberry awards.

Hollywood is continuing to have a slow start to the 2011 movie season with only two new wide releases. There is a limited release worth noting as well, because it is only limited in the U.S., but opening to a wider audience in Canada. What it breaks down to is a new superhero movie, a Vince Vaughn comedy, and a drama about an author reflecting on his life.
