Is Ian Somerhalder trying to tell us something? Somerhalder has expressed his interest in playing Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey for quite some time, but as we move closer and closer to a production date, The Vampire Diaries star is still being coy about his potential involvement in the film. Last night when Somerhalder was on “Watch What Happens: Live,” the blue-eyed CW heartthrob talked to host Andy Cohen about the role that has everyone abuzz in Hollywood.

“I think they have a very big job ahead of them, casting this role,” Somerhalder said. “So, I can’t say anything other than, it’s a very interesting story and whoever plays that role is going to have a lot of fun rehearsal time.”
We are definitely intrigued, especially since Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James recently re-tweeted a fan art photo of Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey along with a smiley face emoticon. That must mean the author is convinced that Somerhalder can play a convincing Christian Grey, and he’s definitely proven in the past that he can pull off sexy, dark roles, like in The Rules of Attraction. Ian, you’ve got our vote!
