Gossip Girl Recap: Season 6 Premiere – Gone Maybe Gone

Gossip Girl is back for one last season of scandal and schemes in the Upper East Side. We can’t wait to bring you all of the gossip and fashion from the last season of Gossip Girl. Here is what happened in the first episode Gone Maybe Gone:

When we return to Gossip Girl we pick up right where we left off: Chuck and Blair are rekindling their romance in Monaco, Georgina and Dan are getting inspired for a new book in Rome, Nate is trying to find the real Gossip Girl and Serena has passed out from the drugs on the train.

Jump ahead a few month and Bart and Lily return to New York after renewing their vows and realize Serena hasn’t been seen all summer long. Red flags are up instantly what with Serena’s shady past. The gang is all alerted about missing Serena. They are only semi-worried because she has done this so many times before. They all have to return from their exotic locales (Rome, Paris, Dubai) to find her and rescue her again.

Chuck has been doing recon on Bart in Dubai and returns home with Bart’s former translator. Things are clearly awkward with Chuck and Bart. It’s the tension between Chuck and Blair that surprises us. They said they made some sort of pact that is forcing them apart. Haven’t they learned about pacts and promises by now. Chuck’s new lady friend clearly has some big secrets about what Bart was up to before he faked his death. Bart shows up at The Empire offering anything at all for her to stay quiet and get out of town.  He pays her 10 million to keep quiet. The best part is that she has no idea what Bart is talking about. Bart has done some despicable things in the past, but what could be worth so much?

Rufus has moved back to the loft. When Lily comes to ask about Serena she finds out that Ivy has been living in Brooklyn with him. They swear nothing is going on, they are just friends. There is clearly some bitter feelings between Rufus and Lily though because she storms out. Rufus tries to play nice, but with these two women working him he has no chance of making it out alive. You see, Ivy is still not the sweet girl she seems to be. She is up to something sneaky with Lola. Ivy has buttered up Rufus and is helping him open art gallery just like season one. Maybe this is a return to the good old Rufus, if he can get out alive. After Lily verbally attacks them, Ivy takes advantage and seduces Rufus by telling him he is too good for her. The pair kiss in a strange creepy twist we would never have seen coming.

Meanwhile the gang is all searching for Serena. Nate is forced to give up his scoop on Gossip Girl’s identity to find Serena in case she is in trouble. Everyone including Georgina ends up in the same place at the same time and are surprised to find a mansion. Serena is happy and going by the name Sabrina. She barely keeps it together when her friends crash the party. She is living with someone named Steven and it looks like she is about to get married. Steven clearly doesn’t know anything about the true Serena. Blair and Georgina run in to break up the wedding by revealing all of Serena’s dirty little secrets to the wedding guests before anything can happen. Only this isn’t Serena’s wedding. She is the maid of honour at another wedding. Phew! She dodged that one, but she is still living a lie.Serena says that she is turning her life around after nearly dying. She says she wanted to start fresh without her old friends.

Blair tries to apologize to Serena for all of her harsh words. Serena blows her off saying he doesn’t want Blair’s friendship. She wants this new life. That is harsh, but perhaps this is the start of a new mature Serena. Ha!

Dan corners Blair to confront her about their break up. Blair explains that she and Chuck will be together after they finish some things. Dan says its just an excuse so that they can be in love with the idea of each other. Blair returns to manhattan with Chuck, but what Dan said has clearly stuck with her. When she asks about it. Chuck tells her that they can’t be together because she is a distraction. He needs to be a man and do what’s right before he can give himself to her. He is trying to be honourable and mature, but something about their relationship is still so childish.

While they all get home, Serena takes her new man home to Lilly’s apartment ready to face her real life. We will see if Serena really has made a change now.

Dan gets a bigger surprise when he returns to the loft only to find Rufus and Ivy in bed together. This could be the new ending to his expose.

We can’t wait to see what happens in this final season!

    1. Samir says:

YES to all of this – especially a muutal disdain of Serena! Basically I adore all the guys (though Dan can be a little self pitying), and only like Blair for female characters. Also, can Vanessa please just go away forever? She’s gross and her plot points suck. I swear, if anyone was to look at my DVR, they’d think that I was a 13 year old girl, but I have no shame in that :) Loving the premiere of GG (watching now and writing this during a commercial break!). The fashion definitely makes the show – can’t wait to see what they all wear! xo
