Who Will Win Video Of The Year At The MTV VMAs?

The nominees for Video of the Year at the 2012 MTV VMAs couldn’t be a more varied mix of talent. Drake’s “Take Care,” Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake,” M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls,” and Rihanna’s “We Found Love” are all up for the most sought-after award of the night. So who will go home with the award?

Although we absolutely love M.I.A.’s video and think it should win based on the imagery alone, we assume she’s not a frontrunner for the award since her video hasn’t been extraordinarily popular with viewers. Ditto for Drake’s. While Katy Perry is always popular with the fans, she went home with this award last year, so we don’t think she’ll pull a back-to-back win. If it’s down to Gotye and Rihanna, we’re putting our money on Gotye. Not only does Gotye’s video have 100 million more views than Rihanna’s video, “Somebody That I Used To Know” seemingly came out of nowhere and went on to be one of the soundtracks to the summer of 2012. Also, given the indie factor, a win for Gotye would make for a nice underdog story. If you haven’t seen the video yet, check it out below. Check back with us tomorrow to see if we were right!
