5 Things You Didn’t Know About Elizabeth Olsen

Since her breakthrough performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene, Elizabeth Olsen has been on every Hollywood director’s radar. Sure, she’s the younger sister of famous twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (they even named their clothing line Elizabeth & James after Lizzie and her brother James), but she’s got the acting chops to be taken seriously with or without her last name. She’s more likely to be seen in a critically acclaimed indie flick than she is a Hollywood blockbuster, and her latest film, Liberal Arts, is more proof that Elizabeth is here to stay. Lizzie plays Zibby, a 19-year-old college girl who befriends a 35-year-old university admissions officer, played by Josh Radner. Elizabeth Olsen rocks in the college girl coming-of-age story, no doubt because, as a former NYU student, she can relate to her character. What else do you not know about Elizabeth Olsen? Her Guilty Pleasure: The Real Housewives
When asked by VanityFair.com if she has any interest in pop culture phenoms like the Twilight series and 50 Shades of Grey, Elizabeth Olsen responded, “If I have time to kill, I’d rather watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

She Was Embarrassed To Become An Actress
When Elizabeth Olsen’s Martha Marcy May Marlene costar Sarah Paulson interviewed her for Interview Magazine, Elizabeth confessed to her that she was originally embarrassed to admit to others and to herself that she also wanted to act, like her older sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley: “…living in L.A., I was embarrassed to say that I wanted to be an actor. When I was 14 or 15, I was a really good volleyball player, so I thought, Well, maybe I’ll just get a scholarship to an Ivy League school through volleyball. Then I quit when I decided to focus on theater. I had a great drama teacher in high school, and that’s when I started to learn about the history of theater.”

She loves to cook
“I’m a huge foodie,” she admitted to Shine On Media. “I love cooking and going to restaurants. That’s something I actively do. For my birthday my mom and I went to Williams & Sonoma and she bought me pots. I couldn’t be more happy to have a new set of pots… I started doing dinner parties when I was 17. I threw them seasonally. I really like making this one pasta with raw zucchini. You just make zucchini look like pasta and you marinate it in a sauce and it just becomes a pasta.”

She’s Actually Quite Tall
At, 5’7, Elizabeth Olsen is a lot taller than her pint-sized older sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. In fact, as nice as it would be to borrow outfits from her fashionista sisters, she can’t actually fit into their clothes. “I overgrew them in high school,” she told Refinery29, “And then all of my friends started getting their hand-me-downs. So I’ll be like “Hey Eliza, what is that dress?’ to one of my best friends. And she’ll say, ‘Oh, its Mary-Kate’s, she’s getting rid of some stuff.’ And I’m always like, ‘Great, because I couldn’t fit into it!’”

She Wants To Finish Her Degree
“I love school, but I got cast in Martha while I was at New York University. So I was like, Screw it. I’ll take this semester off,” she confessed to Glamour magazine. “I’m still trying to figure out how I can finish my degree while doing all this!”
