While Kristen Stewart jetted off to Toronto for the film festival in support of her new film On the Road, Robert Pattinson made his first appearance in support of The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn: Part 2 — his first appearance after news of Kristen’s cheating scandal with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders broke, that is — at the MTV VMAs. Everyone’s been wondering how Rob and Kristen will handle press for the film, given that the two met and fell in love while filming the Twilight series, not to mention the fact that their characters share steamy scenes together on screen.

“It’s been an amazing journey and we’d like to thank all the fans of the series for your incredible enthusiasm from the beginning until now, the final chapter,” Pattinson told the crowd before showing the new trailer for the film. Although we thought Rob might be uncomfortable watching scenes of his character and Kristen’s Bella kissing, he handled the unveiling of the new trailer like a total pro, showing how cool and collected he really in. We think this is a sign that the rest of the press events for Breaking Dawn: Part 2 will go more smoothly than anticipated. Don’t worry, Twi-hards!
