This week in our True Blood recap we start learning that five true blood factories have been destroyed. The Authority promises the humans that they are still safe, but it’s not entirely true. Sookie thinks she is safe, until the former morgue worker Mike comes over to take a bite out of her. She has to stake him with a chop stick in her living room. Gross! That doesn’t stop her from continuing the hunt for her parent’s killer. For once, Jason outsmarts Sookie on the hunt for clues. They find a creepy old scroll hidden under the floorboards in the bedroom. A language expert thinks it’s a hoax since it’s no human language he’s ever seen. He should know better, because we do! They take it to the fairies and it turns out it is an ancient fairy contract. It says their ancestors promised this Warlon vampire their first Stackhouse female fairy heir. That just happens to be Sookie.
The Authority has Molly prisoner after trying to escape last week. Newly converted Bill stakes her for trying to hurt their cause. How quickly things change! Eric is still alive for now, but Bill threatens to kill him too if he doesn’t convert. They drug him with Lilith’s blood hoping he will have an epiphany. Instead of Lilith, Godrich appears to Eric and Nora. Godrich tries to tell them that Lilith is a bad god and they need to see sense. Suddenly Lilith appears too and violently kills Godrich. I’m not sure if you can really kill a hallucination, but it seems to effect them. Afterwards Eric tells the Authority that he will join them. He even forgives Russell for killing his family. I hope he is just putting on a show, but I can’t tell who is lying or telling the truth anymore. Someone needs to keep their wits about them.
Hoyte seems to be recovering well and is supposed to move back in with his mother. He has other plans. Hoyte wants to move to Alaska for a new start. While I would miss him dearly on the show, I think it’s the best thing for him. He sets up a surprise meeting with Jason and Jessica at Merlotte’s to tells them his plan. He seems so sure of himself, but they are upset. It only gets worse! Hoyte wants Jessica to glamour him so he forgets they ever existed. He says it hurts too much and he wants his life back. it’s heartbreaking! She glamours him to ensure that he will not miss them and will have a great life in Alaska. She frees him. It’s beautiful and tragic. Afterwards, Jason stops Hoyte trying to get some glimmer of recognition, but it’s clear he’s already forgotten Jason. Jason is devastated that he has lost his best friend for good. Before Jessica can get over Hoyte a team of officers show up at the house. Bill has sent for Jessica. Oh no, now Jessica will be asked to join. Bill gives her a big tour of the place. It doesn’t take long before Bill starts to give her the big religious speech about Lilith. Jessica is rolling her eyes at the idea for now.
The new sheriff is in charge at Fangtasia. I don’t know why, it’s not his business. He can rule from somewhere else. Just because Eric was there before, doesn’t mean every sheriff can stay there does it? He wants the bar to change and is threatening to take everything from Pam. She’s ready to give it all up to escape with Tara. Tara and crazy Ginger set up a scheme and stake the new sherriff in the office without Pam’s knowledge. We don’t get to see Pam’s reaction yet, but we know that kind of thing is seriously frowned upon!
Sam and Luna are trying everything to get Emma back from Steve. He and Russell are getting closer having feasts and slow dancing. Sam and Luna sneak into a taping where Steve is doing an interview as mice, but Emma’s not there. They are holding Emma at the Authority headquarters. When Steve gets back Emma has transformed back to to a human and is throwing a tantrum. Luckily Sam and Luna sneak in in his briefcase. Who knows how they plan on steal Emma?
While Steve deals with little Emma, the Authority are planning new ways to rule. Russell wants to take fairies hostage, drink their blood so that they can day walk and synthesize it. He’s obsessed about day walking ever since he first tasted Sookie. When Salome tells him that he is crazy, Russell snaps. Salome doesn’t want to walk in the day. Russel goes wild refusing to take orders from them and says he wants nothing to do with them. He leaves screaming about day walking. Sookie better be careful because she has bigger concerns now that Rusell is on the loose.

Molly was gone too soon (She and Eric made a solid action team). Russell’s slow dance with Steve Newlin to Katy Perry’s “Fireworks” = best scene of the night. Tara & Ginger’s teamwork was also awesome, & I would love to see them have their own spinoff please.
I like the way they’re amping things up (and am hoping they tie everything up in a way that’s not completely absurd)…plus I was excited to see a new cover of the opening song “Bad Things” – http://youtu.be/vm88RbRNq7w The music on or inspired by this show is so good. It’s the summer of True Blood (for me); I’ll be sad to see it end.
