Michael Phelps made Olympic history in London 2012. The swimmer earned his record 19th medal and 15th gold medal on Tuesday night when he anchored the 4×200-meter freestyle relay for the American men’s team. This makes him the Olympian with the most medals… of all time!

Phelps still has three events to go to make his record even more impressive: the 200 individual medley, the 100 butterfly and the 4×100 medley relay. Though he got off to what seemed like a shaky start at the Olympics — failing to win any of his first three events at the games — we had faith that Phelps would come back and show us why we started to get totally obsessed with swimming in the first place.

After Phelps next three events, he’ll retire from swimming.
