Robert Pattinson is currently living through any young person’s worst nightmare: He’s trying to nurse his broken heart while living under the scrutiny of the public eye. Everyone wants to know how Rob has been holding up ever since we found out that his girlfriend of 3 years, Kristen Stewart, cheated on him with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Although no heartbreak is ever good timing, it doesn’t help that Rob is currently beginning a publicity tour for his new film, David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis. So how is the British actor keeping it together? Here’s how to survive a breakup, starring Robert Pattinson.
1. Eat comfort food
We’ve all cried into a bucket of ice cream at one point in our lives, but very few of us will ever be able to say that we consoled our broken heart with Ben & Jerry’s while on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Robert Pattinson made his first talk show appearance since the scandal last night on Stewart’s show. Although Stewart kept it classy and didn’t discuss Rob’s breakup, he did give the actor a spoon and a tub of ice cream in a “hang in there, buddy” kind of gesture that we thought was pretty adorable.
2. Lean on your friends
When everyone was trying to figure out where Robert Pattinson went after a U-Haul was spotted outside of the home he shared with Kristen, it turned out that he had gone to stay at former Water for Elephants co-star Reese Witherspoon’s ranch. We’re sure Reese, a married mom, had some great big sisterly advice for Rob.

3. Get out of the house
The worst thing you can do after a dramatic breakup is stay in bed and refuse to socialize. Robert Pattinson has been spotted all over Los Angeles throwing back a few beers, hanging out with friends and hopefully realizing that he’s a) only 26 years old b) one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood and c) can pretty much get any girl he wants.
4. Don’t lash out
We’ve all been there: Dramatic Facebook status updates, mean-spirited tweets and ex-bashing sessions. It’s easy to let your hurt take control of your senses when you’ve been let down by someone you love. Although Rob could have made the scandal into a huge woe-is-me party in the media, he’s kept is mouth shut, proving that he’s a true gentleman… and who doesn’t want to date a true gentlemen? The next girl is going to be really lucky!

5. Get custody of the dog
