Avril Lavigne is engaged to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger! We couldn’t be more surprised than you about this. The couple have kept their relationship completely off the radar. Back in February, the two musicians worked together on Avril’s upcoming album, but we assumed they were just good ol’ Canadian buddies. Avril tweeted about their studio collaboration: “Bro’ing out with Chad Kroeger in the studio.” That didn’t exactly imply “hot romance” to us, but then again, maybe Avril would be the first person to tell us that there’s no need to go and make things so complicated.

This will be the first marriage for 37-year-old Chad and the second for 27-year-old Avril, who was famously married to Sum 41′s Deryck Wibley (also Canadian). Avril split from boyfriend Brody Jenner is January of 2012 after a fairly high-profile 2-year relationship.
