Liam’s First Kiss With Miley was actually in the movie The Last Song
Liam Hemsworth met fiance Miley Cyrus while filming The Last Song in 2010. Their onscreen sparks didn’t require much acting. The two soon became an offscreen couple. “I sort of want a finder’s fee for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth,” The Last Song director Adam Shankman told People magazine. “I cannot tell you. It made me cry… I remember that first day of shooting when they first kissed and Miley walked by my sister [producer Jennifer Gibgot] after they shot the kissing scene. She goes, ‘This is gonna work.’”

While growing up in Australia, he was a competitive surfer
“I surfed competitively and made it to the state rounds where I was competing with the top surfers in Victoria,” Liam told GQ Style. “All my friends were surfers. All we wanted to do was be Kelly Slater.”

He’s ridiculously tall
The first thing that strikes us about Hollywood every time we visit isn’t how beautiful people are; it’s how short they are! Liam Hemsworth is actually abnormally tall by Hollywood standards. At 6’5, he’s right up there with Alexander Skarsgard. Liam’s actually an entire foot taller than fiance, Miley, which is kind of adorable.

Liam lost a ton of weight for The Hunger Games
“My brother Chris texted me about a month before shooting and said, ‘Remember, it’s called Hunger Games not Eating Games,’” Liam told Men’s Health UK. “I lost quite a bit of weight for the role. My character lives in District 12 in the film, which is basically like living in the Depression. He’s hunting for his food everyday and trying to provide for himself and his family. He’s not eating a lot. He doesn’t have a lot of money to buy food. I wanted to get a good sense of what it’s like to be hungry. I was training five or six days a week, and eating a lot less. When we started shooting, I wasn’t training as much, but I was eating only very minimally. For the month leading up to shooting, it was very clean, healthy food. When we started shooting, I would have one meal a day. It wasn’t that it was even very healthy. It was whatever I could get, and not a lot of it.”

Liam lost out on the role of Thor in The Avengers to his brother, Chris Hemsworth
“Look, Chris is six-and-a-half years older than me so there’s this thing where if I’d got Thor, that would have been weird,” Liam explained to GQ. “The way I look at this is, better Chris than someone else. Believe me, Chris and I spent most of our lives beating each other up. At this point, we’re just happy not to be fist-fighting over who gets to sit in the front seat.”
