The London 2012 Olympic Games started today with a wonderful and magical opening ceremonies. Directed by award winning director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) the opening ceremonies celebrated the best of Britain. In case you missed the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, here are the highlights:
Daniel Craig made an appearance through a video in character as James Bond. Craig did a great skit as Bond, James Bond escorting the Queen from Buckingham Palace to the ceremonies via helicopter. Daniel Craig and The Queen of England pretended to skydive into the Olympic stadium.

In a segment celebrating British literature, JK Rowling made a rare appearance to read a segment of Peter Pan while dozens of Mary Poppins’ floated down from the sky on their umbrellas.

Rowan Atkinson helped the orchestra celebrate British film as his popular Mr. Bean character. Of course, Mr. Bean was up to his usual antics sleeping while he was supposed to be playing the piano with the band.

David Beckham carried the Olympic torch into the stadium on a speedboat, proving that his wife, Victoria Beckham, is not the only one who knows how to make an entrance!
The one and only Paul McCartney ended the night with a rendition of “Hey Jude.” Of course, our favourite part had to be hearing the Queen say” “I declare open the Games of London, celebrating the 30th Olympiad of the modern era.”
