If you thought last weekend was an interesting mix of new movies, wait until you get a load of what’s opening this weekend. We’ve got male strippers, a new Madea flick, and a movie about a talking teddy bear. For the record, the latter isn’t for kids.
If there was ever a movie that women were destined to flock to, it’s Magic Mike. The movie it about a male stripper mentoring a young performer. Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey star in this comedy / drama. It’s almost like McConaughey is passing the torch to two of his younger co-stars.
Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds that opened earlier this year failed to earn much at the box office, but with Madea’s Witness Protection he’s sure to make some of his losses back. In this new comedy a crooked banker is placed under witness protection in Madea’s home. These movies always do well for Tyler Perry, but the comedy is starting to get a little stale.
Ted is Seth MacFarlane’s first foray into feature films, and in this one he plays a wisecracking teddy bear who is brought to life as a result of a childhood wish. The only problem is that after that child grows up and starts finding a life of his own, Ted is left trying to find a life for himself. Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis also star in this one. This could either be a huge hit, or a massive failure. Only time will tell.
