Say what you will about the Twilight franchise, but Kristen Stewart is laughing all the way to the bank. The actress, who has portrayed Bella Swan in the massive franchise since 2008, topped Forbes’ 2012 list of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. In the last year, Stewart raked in $34.5 million, thanks to her roles in the last two Twilight movies, as well as her most recent leading role in Snow White and the Huntsman.

At just 22 years old, Stewart beat out Hollywood veteran Cameron Diaz, who’s 17 years her senior, for top honours, with Diaz coming in second place at $34 million. Usual suspects round out the rest of the top five, with Sandra Bullock coming in third with $25 million, Angelina Jolie in fourth with $20 million, and Stewart’s Snow White co-star Charlize Theron notably coming in fifth with $18 million.

Is Hollywood ready for a new queen of the box office? If Stewart’s recent role in Snow White is any indication that she’s up for the fight, we’d have to say yes. And with just one more Twilight move left to hit theatres, Stewart seems ready to break away from the franchise that made her famous and show Hollywood that it’s time to make way for young blood.
