At last night’s Golden Globe Awards Madonna and Elton John appeared to get into a war of words as they competed for the Best Original Song award.
Canoe.ca reports that the Rocket Man started the war of words by telling reporters on the red carpet that Madonna “doesn’t have a f**king chance of winning tonight.” Reporters followed it up by asking if those were “fighting words,” and he replied, “No, those are accurate words”.
Of course reporters had to know how Madonna would react, and when they mentioned it to her she replied “Was he wearing a dress?” adding, “May the best man win.”
When the dust settled Madonna had picked up the award for her song Masterpiece, which was in her movie W.E.. When asked by reporters about the situation with John afterwards Madonna responded “I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He’s known to get mad at me. He’s brilliant and I adore him, so he will win another award. And I don’t feel bad!”
The question of course is whether or not there really is a feud between the two, or whether it was just a friendly spat in the spirit of competition. What do you think?
