Earlier this week news broke that Academy Awards winning actress Halle Berry was engaged to Olivier Martinez. The two have been dating for over a year, and recently she’d been seen sporting a diamond-and-emerald ring that he’d apparently given her on that special finger. But hold onto your horses, no comment had been given by Berry or Martinez, and no official word had been given from either of their reps. In fact the only word that had been given was from a rep for jewelry designer Gurhan.
TMZ has gotten to the bottom of the story, and their sources tell them that it is not an engagement ring. They’ve been told that “Olivier did indeed give Halle the ring as a gift, but it positively is not a symbol of getting engaged.”
So what does this mean? Well for starters TMZ reports that their sources said that the pair are in a “committed relationship” and marriage “could be in the cards,” but not just yet. This means of course that Berry is not about to get married for the third time. Perhaps she’s decided to wait this time to see if it’s true love or not.
Fans are not the only ones who have been confused by the news. Once she heard the story, singer Kylie Minogue, who dated Martinez for four years before splitting up in 2007 tweeted “Congrats to Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry!! #wedding.”
