Two time Academy Award Winner (Producer for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Best Actor for Wallstreet) Michael Douglas will undergo an 8-week radiation and chemotherapy treatment for a throat tumor. He is expected to make a full recovery, but will probably have to be fed through a tube for a period as swallowing will be difficult.
The actor recently told press that he is “very optimistic” about his chances. There has been no word whether the tumor is benign or malignant.
The 65 year old Douglas will next be on the silver screen on September 24th in the highly anticipated Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. The movie is a sequel to the 1988 hit Wall Street which earned Douglas his second Academy Award. He is married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, and has two children with her, Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta.
