Beauty Review: Mereadesso Lip Treats

Canadian beauty company Mereadesso has not only created a balm in their Lip Treats product, but also a primer for your lipstick or gloss. This means your lip product is doing double duty by moisturizing and helping your lipstick last longer. We slipped these little lip balms into our makeup bag to find out if it’s our new secret weapon.

THE HYPE: A lip product that hydrates using evening primrose, grape seed, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and Vitamins A, C and E, while also priming our lips for makeup. What more could we ask for?

THE TEST: Apply the lip treats regularly and look for results.

THE VERDICT: We have been using these Lip Treats for a few weeks now and still aren’t completely sold. Mereadesso has promise two things, which we will address separately. As a primer for our makeup, the Lip Treats fail. Applying this balm to your lips before lipstick actually made our makeup fade faster. Our lipstick couldn’t properly adhere to our lips after applying the slick balm. It wiped away in no time. If Mereadesso’s Lip Treats dried better, it might have a fighting chance at priming our pucker.

As a lip balm, we are addicted to these Treats. We always keep one close at hand. They give dry lips instant relief. Our kiss is softer than ever. That said, this balm doesn’t offer any lasting effect. We keep it close at hand because we have to keep applying it to ensure our lips stay soft. It doesn’t seem to be actually repairing or adding moisture into our skin. Mereadesso is a temporary solution to dry lips, but it’s one we love using.

Should Sugar be Regulated?

Do you overindulge in sugary foods or alcohol? It appears that many of us do. In today’s health news, researchers from the University of California – San Francisco have released information stating that sugar is so harmful to public health it should be controlled like alcohol and cigarettes.

Fox News reports that researchers say that the public’s excessive consumption of sugar not only is contributing to a global obesity pandemic, but also is critically altering people’s hormones, metabolism and blood pressure and causing “significant damage to the liver’. “As long as the public thinks that sugar is just ‘empty calories,’ we have no chance in solving this,” Dr. Robert Lustig said. “There are good calories and bad calories, just as there are good fats and bad fats, good amino acids and bad amino acids, good carbohydrates and bad carbohydrates. But sugar is toxic beyond its calories.”

The researchers said that the effects of consuming an excess of sugary foods and drinks mimic the effects of drinking too much alcohol — which, they pointed out, is made from distilling sugar.

Not surprisingly, organizations like The Sugar Association and the American Beverage Association are speaking out against the findings calling them ‘irresponsible’.

Dr. Laura Schmidt, who was involved in the research, said, “We’re not talking prohibition. We’re not advocating a major imposition of the government into people’s lives. We’re talking about gentle ways to make sugar consumption slightly less convenient, thereby moving people away from the concentrated dose.”

When you massage it onto your face it feels like you are washing with a cloud. Rinsing it off is a breeze. Since it is meant for sensitive skin, we were surprised by the rosy, red glow the Cleansing Water left on our cheeks. If it can cause redness on our tough skin, who knows what the effect would be on someone with more sensitive skin? If you want something soft, the lightness of this cleanser is worth a try. Those with sensitive skin should test it cautiously though to avoid disaster.
