With New Year’s Resolutions well under way, everyone is thinking about which diets will be the biggest for 2013. A study of hundred of registered dietitians showed what they feel will be the biggest trends in diets this year. Here are the biggest diet trends of 2013:

Natural and simple diets are in – The biggest diets this year are expected to be those with natural products and simple ingredients. Dieters will be looking for menus with fewer, more natural ingredients. This means it may be easier than ever to stick to your diet.

Fruits and vegetables top the food chain – The biggest impact on 2013 diets is expected to be the increase in people eating fruits and vegetables. With these natural, simple diets gaining popularity, you can expect many more people munching fruits and veggies on a daily basis.

Gluten free will continue – The trend of more people eating gluten free and wheat free will continue. That said low-carb diets are said to be on the out. So look for gluten free carbs to fill your appetite.

High quality calories – Before you might just be tracking how many calories you eat, but from now on more people will be worried about where those calories come from. It’s not always the lowest number that is healthiest. People will be looking for healthy food with quality calories.

Diet programs are big – You might be able to blame Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Hudson for this, but you can expect commercial diet programs to be more popular than ever in 2013. Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig are expected to be very popular this year.
