When it comes to nails, Chanel is known for setting the trends for the season to come at fashion week. All eyes were not just on the clothes as the models walked down the runway at the Chanel show in Paris yesterday — they were also on the models’ nails. Although we’ve seen detailed nail art on runways from New York to Milan, we were pleasantly surprised to see that Chanel makeup artist Peter Philips gave Chanel models a traditional French manicure for the Spring/Summer 2013 show. Although the French manicure has fallen out of favour in recent years, we love that Philips brought the look back using a coat of Chanel Ballerina along with the not yet released Chanel Eastern Light. Given that nail art has been extraordinarily elaborate, detailed and multi-hued in 2012, we actually have to say that the traditional French manicure is quite a refreshing thing to see. We approve!
