Redken’s Lead Hairstylist Jorge Joao talks Ashtiani’s Runway Hair

During Toronto Fashion Week, Ashtiani’s futuristic collection was perfectly complimented with voluminous slicked back hair that was glamorous and effortless at the same time. We talked to Redken’s lead hairstylist Jorge Joao on what products were used to achieve the look and if we can attempt it at home.

Can you tell me how you created the hair look for Ashtiani?

Well we’re kind of working with a glamorous feel, but on the futuristic side. We’re having everything pushed back with glamour on top. The key is to stick with the natural wave. Texture combined with the natural flow. It’s fashion forward but still relatable to a consumer, it’s not too far fetched and off the wall.

Is this something women can create on their own at home?

Definitely. I think that’s where fashion is headed right now. A lot of designers have been pushing looks that are very relatable to everyday women, both in their collections and in the hairstyles that they have been choosing.  It’s definitely something you can try to attempt on your own time.

What are the key products that you’re using?

We are using Fashion Work 12 by Redken and our Quick Dry 18, it’s a finishing spray it holds out the humidity and adds control and texture, it’s one of the products that I recommend keeping in your bag if you’re always on the go.
