A study done by scientists in the UK found that expensive skin creams don’t and can’t live up to their ‘miracle’ claims. Scientists at the University of Bath found that many of these luxury skin creams can not penetrate your skin’s protective layer.
They used a special microscope to see what happened to these creams once they were left on your skin’s surface. After studying these products they found that these creams, who claim to get under your skin, stay on your skin’s surface.
The reason these creams don’t work as they say is because the skin is meant to act as a protective barrier and hold in moisture and out harmful chemicals. Creams can’t get in because your skin is doing its job. These chemical ingredients (either harmful or helpful) cannot get under your skin.
While they did not name the brands that were used in the study they doctors said that this may help companies design a new type of product that can be released over the skin. Make way for a new era of skin care in the future.
