Adjust The Water Temperature
Sure, it’s nice to take a hot shower in the morning, especially since the weather is getting colder and we’re already feeling the chills as we dash from our bed to the bathroom after hitting the alarm multiple times. Don’t let the soothing temperature of a hot shower fool you. It’s part of the reason your scalp is so dry! Unnecessarily hot water strips your scalp and hair of natural oils that are necessary to stay moisturized. Settle for luke warm water. Your scalp will thank you.
Invest In A Humidifier
If you’ve noticed that your scalp feels more dry now that the weather has cooled down, don’t be surprised. Indoor heating definitely does a number on your scalp. If you’ve noticed that your hands are more dry these days, just imagine what your poor scalp feels like, since it’s not as easy to moisturize! Invest in a humidifier to make sure your skin and scalp stay hydrated while you turn up the heat.
Shampoo Less
There’s no need to shampoo your hair and scalp every day. Even in you hit the gym every morning, you don’t need to lather up just because you worked up a sweat. If your hair feels too greasy, just rinse with luke warm water. You strip less natural oils this way but will still feel more clean. If you can avoid washing your hair altogether, do it. Invest in a good shower cap and try to wash your hair just 2-3 times a week max.
Always Condition
No matter how little time you have in the morning, never skip conditioner. Not only does it help protect your hair from brush and blowdryer damage, it also provides extra hydration for your hair and scalp. We also recommend giving your hair a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. Save washing your hair for the evening at least once a week and reserve a little time to just pamper yourself.

Dry With Care
Just because your blow dryer has an extremely high setting doesn’t mean you should be using it! If your hair dryer burns your scalp when you hold it too close, you’ve got it too high. Put it on a low to medium setting or, better yet, let your hair hair-dry whenever you can. You’ll do your hair a favour in the long run.
