Cassandra Bankson is a true beauty inspiration. The gorgeous 5-foot-11 teenager is making waves at this week’s New York Fashion Week after her 2010 YouTube makeup tutorial on covering up her severe acne made her an internet sensation. Bankson has been signed as a model for New York Fashion Week and will make her runway debut today in the ‘Boy Meets Girl’ show.
After endless cruelty from classmates including having pizza thrown in her face and being nicknamed ‘the virus’, Bankson posted a how-to guide on covering up her pimples. That video has gotten almost 40 million hits and given the once shy, alienated teenager a new lease on life.
Local modeling agents spotted the video and Bankson has since modeled for Bebe, Range Rover and Hourglass Cosmetics. Now she can add runway model to her resume.
Bankson spoke to The New York Post about her runway debut. “It feels like a dream to be here during Fashion Week,” says Bankson, who pays regular visits to a dermatologist and says her skin condition is about 70 percent improved since she first made the video. “I am a different person from who I used to be because I’ve got so much more confidence now.”
With her runway debut in the ‘Boy Meets Girl’ show, Bankson proves that inner personal strength, beauty and determination can impact not just one life, but many lives for the better.
