Our Favourite New BB Creams

Last year, we had barely heard of BB creams, and this year they’re the must-have product of fall. Everyone from Dior to Maybelline now makes one, so if you haven’t already heard about this trendy miracle cream, it’s time to get in the know. A BB cream, also known as a beauty balm, is basically a primer, foundation and anti-aging moisturizer in one, and most of them also contain sunscreen. BB creams have been the rage in Asia for years, but they’ve only recently become the new “it” product in North America. Not all BB creams are created equal, however. Here are our favourites this fall.

Dior HydraLife BB Cream: We are in LOVE with this BB cream. Not only does it have SPF 35, so it was strong enough to wear in the sun even on extra hot days, it doesn’t feel heavy on our skin, despite it’s supreme coverage. Even after wearing it for 12 hours, we still managed to be tagged in photos on Facebook looking fabulous. The price tag is $65, but if you factor in all the money you’ll save on additional products, it’s worth the splurge.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB: This BB Cream comes in 5 different shades, so make sure to match it with your skin tone before picking up a bottle. The lightweight cream, with SPF 30, makes our skin look luminiscent. We still had to cover up a couple up a few problem spots with concealer underneath, but for $9, it’s an awesome drugstore gem.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35: This BB cream comes in fair, light, medium and dark and leaves your skin looking covered with a healthy glow. It makes our skin look even and smooth — picture perfect! We also love the idea of wearing a high SPF during the day, even when we’re at the office. All those coffee run add up to time in the sun!

The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream: Available in three different shades,The Body Shop’s All-In-One BB Cream goes on white but then adapts to your skin tone. Just seeing it transform is cool in and of itself. We love how moisturized our skin feels after we use it. Even though we still need to use concealor on a couple spots underneath the bb cream, the lightweight texture and all day coverage is truly amazing.

The Bright Touch L’Oreal Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator: This cream promises to reduce dark spots over time with ingredients like vitamin B3 and vitamin C. What we love about it is that it leaves our skin feeling totally hydrated and looking gorgeous. It’s kind of like having Photoshop in a bottle. Plus, it has SPF 15, so we’re doing our skin an added favour! At $24, it’s a great price for an amazing product.
