New York Fashion Week Nail Trend: Blood-Dripped Nails

Thanks to an ongoing obsession with nail art in the beauty and fashion world, nail polish is the fastest growing beauty product on the market right now, and we can see why! All over New York Fashion Week, designers are opting to have their models sport innovative nail art to compliment their runway shows. Our favourite so far has been the blood dripped nails at Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2013 show. Oxblood is already a hugely popular colour for fall 2012, and it will remain popular well into spring 2013.

To get blood-dripped nails, Sally Hansen artist Tracylee dripped Sally Hansen’s Angel Bite polish on nails with a stringer brush, which you can purchase at any arts and crafts store. Stringer brushes are usually used by painters to create impossibly skinny lines. To achieve this look, you simply have to dip the stringer brush into a dark red polish. Then, according to Sally Hansen, “dab the drip from the brush onto the tip of your nail and release it. Use the stringer brush to create a line by dragging the brush along the nail in varying heights. Finally, connect each of the drips in a wavy pattern.”

We’ll definitely be rocking this edgy nail trend when we hit the Halloween party circuit.
