We’ve had a girl crush on the radiant Zooey Deschanel for a while, but as quirky Jess on our favourite show New Girl, she’s even more lovable. With season two of the hilarious hit show beginning Tuesday September 25th, we can’t wait to watch as Zooey charms us with her girly, retro style, those bouncy brunette locks and her fresh, pin-up worthy makeup. You can easily copy this look Zooey is familiar with, as her real-life makeup choices are pretty similar to Jess.

Pretty, Quirky Girl
Whether the Nick and Jess non-couple becomes an on-couple or not, Jess will cause hearts to flutter with her singing, dancing goofiness. As music teacher Jess, Zooey opts for prim A-line skirts, cute colourful fit-and-flare dresses and sweet cardigans. It all goes perfectly with her penchant for a ruby red lip and winged eyeliner. Nothing is ever too dramatic on Zooey, but her huge blue eyes and porcelain skin are perfectly set off with the touches of colour.

Get Her Look
Zooey’s makeup look is simple but makes a statement. Start with a flawless complexion, erasing all traces of shine with mineral powder and dusting a peachy pink sheer blush on apples of cheeks. Try Smashbox Blush Rush in Flush (tongue twist while you’re at it!) Zooey keeps it simple but sexy on eyes, with a light application of a vanilla-shimmering shadow like Stila in 14K. Zooey’s signature winged black liner is best achieved with gel liner like Maybelline in Blackest Black. Use an angle brush to apply a thick stroke on top lashline, winging it out at the corner and repeating with a tiny stroke on bottom lashline for that eye-opening pop. Finally, the key to Jess’ lovable pout? A gorgeous cool berry-red lipstick in a semi-matte finish. Apply a coat, then dab with tissue, repeating a few times for a stained look. You want it soft enough to wear for day, like Jess does with her adorable red dresses and maryjanes.
