How To Get Summer Beachy Waves

Who doesn’t love the way those summer beachy waves their hair gets after a day at the beach? If you want that carefree, wavy look but simply don’t have the time to spend your day lounging on the sand, follow these few tips to achieve the look at home. It takes minimal effort and no one will ever know you created the look with just your typical hair appliances and products. Try it out for perfect wavy hair all summer long!

Method 1:

Start by applying a sea salt spray to towel-dried hair. This will add some body and texture to your natural waves while giving the effect of a sun and wind dried look. Once you’ve applied the product to your hair either let it air dry, occasionally scrunching your hair lightly to enhance your curls, or blow-dry with a diffuser. We love Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray or KMS Hairplay Sea Salt Spray. If you don’t want to buy a sea-salt spray, you can make one yourself using just three ingredients you will already have at home! Simply mix 8 oz. water with 1 tsp of sea salt in a spray bottle. Then add ½ tsp of a moisturizing serum like Moroccanoil to prevent your hair from becoming dry and brittle. Simply shake it up and spray in your hair.

Once your hair is fully dried, use your curling iron to add some more definition to your waves. Using just the barrel, avoiding the clamp, take small sections of hair and wrap them around the barrel in alternating directions. This will give you that imperfect, sexy look without appearing overdone. The trick here is to curl only some pieces of your hair, not your entire head.

Once you are satisfied with your look, spray on some hair spray to set the curls. Afterwards, gently tousle and brush through your curls with just your fingertips to really complete that just-off-the beach look.

Method 2:

If you are looking for a look you can achieve without any products or appliances than this method is for you. While your hair is still wet, section your hair into either two or four pieces. Take each section and twist away from the face into buns. Secure each bun with a lightweight elastic—don’t tie too tight or it will create a crease. Once your hair is completely dry let out the buns and brush through lightly with your fingertips. You can add some hairspray at the end to hold the curls in place.

Note: This works great if you shower just before bed and let it dry throughout the night. Then in the morning you will have perfectly wavy tresses reminiscent of the relaxed waves you would get after a day at the beach!
