Remember the half-ponytail you used to do in junior high? It’s now has a very grown-up update. One of the hottest hairstyles during the fall/winter 2012 fashion shows was the slicked center look. On the Versus runway, models wore their hair gelled back in the center with pin-straight hair falling down on the sides, while the look at Missoni was more textured and bedroom messy, like throwing a clip in your hair on the go.
We love Marion Cotillard‘s version of the slicked center in The Dark Knight Rises. The pulled back center creates an elegant look on top, while the free-flowing sides allow for her curls to keep their volume on the sides as well. The best part is, it’s easy to replicate. First, blow dry your hair with a round brush. For a more tamed look, just get pull back the face-framing layers of your hair by slicking back a two-inch section with mousse and then securing it with a clip. For a more volumous look, pull back a two-inch section without product, secure it with a clip and then add hairspray for extra hold. It’s the easiest way to creat a cocktail party-worthy look with little effort. And, if you just happen to be at a masked ball like Marion, it’s the easiest way to stand out from the crowd.
