Fuchsia, electric green, and fluorescent yellow have all hit the runways in a major way this season. We have seen everything from neon jackets to brightly hued, handbags and even vibrantly-dyed strands. While this colourful trend can be a great way to embrace the summer weather, it can become overpowering very easily. We have outlined three ways to incorporate this trend into your beauty regimen so that you will look fresh in neon all summer long.

Eyes: When going for a bold eye colour it is important to keep everything else to a minimum. For a bright splash of colour that won’t be too dramatic try an electric hued liner like the UV eye and lip pencil from stargazer or Nars Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Abbey Road or St. Marks Place. Try winging out the liner at the outward part of your eye for a more dramatic look. Stick to a nude lip colour and natural looking blush to balance out the eyes, as seen at Moschino Cheap and Chic (above).

Lips: High impact lip colour is a very trendy yet wearable way to incorporate bright colour into your beauty look. We saw it on the Spring/Summer 2012 runways including Milly (pictured above), Prabal Gurung and Nanette Lepore. Yves Saint Laurent’s Fard A Levres Rouge Pur 49 Tropical Pink provides good coverage colour with a nice satiny finish. While a neon pout is a great way to have fun with your makeup, the colour can easily bleed onto your face throughout the day. Finding a matching lipliner is nearly impossible, so in order to avoid this potential mess try a clear lipliner like DuWop’s Reverse Lipliner. The revolutionary, colourless formula is applied to the skin outside the lips for a defined pout that will keep your lip colour in place.
Nails: For a subtler dose of neon apply a vibrant shade to your perfectly groomed nails. Make sure to keep nails short so that the pop of colour is not so in-your-face. Essie’s Poppy Razzi collection provides a host of vibrant nail polishes from neon tangerine (Action) to hot pink (Lights). China Glaze has also released a line of summer neons with a wide range of colours like highlighter yellow (Sun-Kissed) and electric green (I’m With The Lifeguard).
