New Food That Will Help You Get Gorgeous Skin

You’ve probably read before how foods like salmon and avocado can do wonders for your skin, but have you ever heard about fennel or burdock doing the same? There are a surprising number of foods you may have passed at the supermarket that can actually do everything from clearing up acne to flushing out toxins in the body. Next time you’re out shopping, consider incorporating one (or all!) of these amazing superfoods to your diet and watch as the benefits appear right before your eyes.

KALE: This green leafy vegetable has gained quite a lot of popularity in the last few years thanks to it’s incredibly nutritious benefits. It’s a fantastic detoxifier and contains a serious amount of antioxidants, including carotenoids and flavonoids, which help to protect against certain cancers. It’s also high in Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, iron and calcium. Talk about being good for you!

ALMOND MILK: Dairy can be an issue for a lot of people and cause everything from bloating to acne. An amazing alternative to cow’s milk is almond milk, which is not only low in calories (40-60 calories for one cup without sugar), but is also low in sodium too. Low in carbohydrates, almond milk contains about 30% of your daily requirement of calcium and 25% of Vitamin D. Plus almond milk contains 50% of your recommended daily value of Vitamin E, which is key for maintaining skin health.

FENNEL: If you haven’t tried this liquorice-flavoured root vegetable, consider giving it a try. Not only does it help aid in digestion, but it helps the body to flush out excess fluids and toxins. Try it raw in a salad or even hot in a soup or tea.

BEETROOT: You’re missing out on a serious superfood if you aren’t incorporating beetroot into your diet. While many people avoid this red staining vegetable because they’ve only had it pickled, may we suggest you trying it raw or even blended in a vegetable juice. Chalked full of Vitamin C and iron, it also contains beta cyanin, which helps the liver detoxify.

BURDOCK: While you may have to travel to your local health food store to find burdock root, it has fantastic medicinal properties and many herbalists like to use it to treat acne. Not only does burdock contain high levels of calcium, potassium and magnesium, but it also has antibacterial and antifungal properties too. The best way to consume this plant is in a hot cup of tea.
