For Spring, we saw pops of orange, pink and red in runway lipsticks. Bringing these hot trends to your real life can be more tricky. We turned to Rimmel London’s beauty expert Vanessa Jarman to learn how to properly wear these colourful lipsticks. See her tips on how to incorporate bright lip colour to your look now!
Q: There are some very dark and very bright lipsticks on the runway for Spring. Who should be wearing these dramatic colours? How I can be sure I am wearing them properly?
A: As long as YOU wear the lipstick, and the lipstick doesn’t wear you… you can get away with wearing any shade, at any age! A good rule to stand by for wearing bold colours is ensuring your lips are fully lined and filled in before the lipstick is applied. This rule is especially important for for reds, or any other colour you want to appear bold, crisp and bright. If you’re concerned about your lipstick bleeding or uneven edges, line and fill in your lips first before applying foundation. That way you can clean up the edges next, instead of trying to be careful with not turning your foundation pink afterwards. Try: Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 01 (Red), 02 (Hot Pink), 04 (Deep Purple).
