DASH Diet Voted The Best Diet Overall

In today’s beauty news, the 2012 Best Diets Rankings has chosen the DASH Diet as the number one best overall diet, number one diet for diabetics and number one diet for healthy eating.

DASH was developed by The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and its initial aim was to fight high blood pressure, not necessarily be an all-purpose diet. The panel of experts at the U.S. World & News Report however, gave it high marks for its nutritional completeness, safety, ability to prevent or control diabetes, and role in supporting heart health. Though obscure, it beat out a field full of better-known diets.

The DASH diet emphasizes healthy eating with a focus on getting more calcium, potassium, protein and fiber into your daily life. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy are all a part of the diet plan.
