Bacteria Being Added To Your Skin Care Products

The idea of applying bacteria to your face may give you the creeps, but your favourite brands have started adding beneficial bacteria to their products in the latest beauty trend. We have all heard of the probiotics and prebiotics added to yogurt to aid in digestion, weight and immune system, but apparently they can also help your skin. These bacteria are being used to help fight acne, sensitive and dry skin.

While the actual bacteria being used are different than that in food, they are being used in the same way. They add the bacteria to skin care products and it is meant to balance your skin. It is meant to balance out the bacteria on your skin in natural oils, which can be disturbed by anything from sunburns to harsh cleaners.

Skin care company Nude is the first to launch a complete line of products using their Probiotic Technology. Their products promise to improve the skin’s appearance and skin cells. Drugstore friendly products, Lancome’s Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate and L’Oreal Paris’ Youth Code also include bacteria.

Research is still ongoing as to what these bacteria can actually do. According to The Daily Mail, doctors say you should be wary of what these products are promising.
