A new study out of the UK found that the average woman spends 9,000 pounds (approximately $13,000 Canadian) on makeup in her lifetime.
The study says from the age of 16 women will spend about 26.24 pounds ($40 Canadian) five times each year on makeup purchases such as mascara, lipstick and foundation. They have tallied that number up to the average female lifespan of 65 years old giving a grand total of 8,528 pounds in a lifetime.
They also found that 70 per cent of women never leave the house without makeup on. A fifth of British women admitted that even their significant others have never seen them makeup free.
The average woman apparently spends 20 minutes a day on their beauty routine totaling 330 days. That is almost a year spend getting ourselves beautiful.
The study was done by Superdrug for the launch of their new Make Up Academy products. Sara Wolverson of Superdrug said she isn’t surprised at the results. She said, “Women use make-up as a tool to boost their confidence and as a way to make themselves feel fashionable and youthful.”
