IS THE COOKIE DIET RIGHT FOR YOU?

There has been a lot of talk this year about Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet and its now on its way to Canada.  Dr. Siegal (also known as the Cookie Doctor) created his famous hunger-controlling meal replacement cookies more than 30 years ago.  His cookies claim to satisfy hunger without drugs and help you stick to a reduced-calorie diet.

In the past year, CanadaBeauty has seen him on a variety of television shows discussing his diet.  What also caused a lot of buzz for Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet were young celebrity endorsers Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson.

In world obsessed with quick fixes, it’s no surprise that the Cookie Diet is successful, but is it safe?  Critics say that it will work, but only because it promotes a diet of approx 1,000 calories per day.  Most diets recommend a calorie intake of at least a 1,200 per day and anything under is considered by many dieticians to be unsafe.  Keri Gans, a registered NYC dietician told the New York Times, “the bottom line is that you can’t meet your nutritional needs in six cookies and one meal a day.  It’s not possible.”

Even though it has its critics, the Cookie Diet is only growing in popularity.  If you’re interested, check out the Dr. Siegal website for more info.  A week’s supply of cookies will cost about $59.00.
