Although music festival season has been replaced by harvest season, faux flowers and floral face paint are quickly coming into full bloom. With girlish colours and delicate swirls of makeup, flowery patterns are rising as a popular new beauty trend.

The trend recently surfaced on the London Fashion Week Spring 2017 runway at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. Models strut the length of the catwalk with faces adorned with delicate floral petals. The look was crafted by makeup artist Val Garland, who arranged the multicoloured flowers around models’ forehead and cheekbones.

While authentic petals may be making a statement on the runways, real life beauty lovers are turning to makeup. On Instagram, floral inspired beauty has led to petals pressed in place and surrounded by strategic pops of glitter. Meanwhile, vivid eyeliner, lashings of mascara and unconventional lip colours can bring the look to new heights.

Whether you’re a flower child at heart or simply looking for a change from your everyday makeup regimen, face flowers can easily brighten your visage. Although we may be preparing for cooler temperatures with Fall 2016 officially here, florals can always polish off your weekend beauty looks. Here’s a closer peek at this earthy, bohemian trend, which just may leave you pining for the warmth of springtime.
