In director J Blakeson’s new adventure sci-fi flick The 5^th Wave (which opens in theatres today), Chloë Grace Moretz plays a teenage girl who must rescue her little brother after the Earth is nearly destroyed by alien attacks. The 18-year-old actress stars as main character Cassie Sullivan, who must now face the fifth and most terrifying alien attack to hit the planet.

While we’re admiring her brave new role, we are also coveting the young beauty’s effortlessly gorgeous blonde locks in the film. Here’s how to achieve Cassie’s fuss-free wavy tresses for your own inspired hair statement.

1) Spritz a heat styling spray on your straight, smooth strands: To prepare your locks for your new hairstyle, start by using a heat styling spray. Make sure that your tresses are sleek, tamed and tangle-free to ensure a flawless look.

2) Pull your sleek locks into a half-up hairstyle and begin curling: Once your hair is free of any tangles and brushed into place, pull half of your locks back into an easy half-up and half-down hairstyle. Next, use a one inch curling iron to create soft curls on the free-falling sections of hair.

3) Unfasten the tied-up section of hair and continue to curl your locks: After you’ve added curls to the loose section of your hair, unfasten the tresses that are currently in a half-up style. Continue to craft gentle curls all over your head,

4) Add texture to your hairstyle: For a natural effect, use your fingers to lightly texturize and volumize your styled locks. Use a teasing comb to bring a boost to your locks and fake the look of voluminous, luxurious loose waves. To hold your wavy tresses in place if you have a naturally straight hair texture, spritz your locks with medium hold hairspray for a finishing touch.
